Strætó service on Reykjavík Culture Night

The shuttle service will be free of charge, as will bus services when the city centre is cleared after the fireworks.

Strætó buses will run more frequently throughout the day, with regular fares applying.

Due to street closures, BSÍ will be the end stop for most routes downtown during the day – until around 15:00.

After around 15:00, Skúlagata will take over as the end stop.

There will be some closed streets in the city center when Culture Night takes place there on Saturday.

A map showing the active bus stops in the city centre will be published shortly.

You have to pay a general fare on the bus and a night fare on the night bus, which starts around 1.00 a.m. but customers with 30 day and 1 year bus cards can use them on board Night buses.

Route 1:

  • will drive in 15 min. frequency from approx. 7 – 10
  • will drive in 10 min. frequency from approx. 10 – 18
  • will drive in 15 min. frequency from 18 – 21:30 (until transport from the city center begins)

Route 6:

  • will drive in 15 min. frequency from approx.  7 – 21:30 (until transport from the city center begins)

Routes 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15:

  • will drive in 15 min. frequency from 7/8 – 18
  • will drive in 30 min. frequency from 18 – 21:30 (until transport from the city center begins)

We ask customers to familiarize themselves with the Strætó schedule in the route planner and find a trip, before taking the bus on Culture Night, as trips times may be different than usual due to increased frequency and closed streets in the city. You can check the frequencies in the timetables for these routes below August 22.

Buses may have to take an unconventional route due to street closures and can shange during the day. You can see detours under Route alerts – Please look at the live map at Klappið on straeto.is.is

As the event schedule ends earlier than in recent years, the route system will be reintroduced in a significantly altered form to accommodate passengers who need to travel between municipalities.

General fare applies.

You can search for these trips in the Route planner.
