Reykjavík Culture Night
Usual fare applies during the day – increased frequency during the day
There will be some closed streets in the city center when Culture Night takes place there on Saturday. You have to pay a general fare on the bus and a night fare on the night bus, which starts around 1.00 a.m. but customers with 30 day and 1 year’s bus cards can use them on board Night buses.
Route 1:
- will drive in 15 min. frequency from approx. at 7 – 10
- will drive in 10 min. frequency from approx. at 10 – 18
- will drive in 15 min. frequency from 18 – 21:30 (until transport from the city center begins)
Route 6:
- will drive in 15 min. frequency from approx. at 7 – 21:30 (until transport from the city center begins)
Routes 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15:
- will drive in 15 min. frequency from 7/8 – 18
- will drive in 30 min. frequency from 18 – 21:30 (until transport from the city center begins)
We ask customers to familiarize themselves with the Strætó schedule in the route planner and find a trip, before taking the bus on Culture Night, as trips times may be different than usual due to increased frequency and closed streets in the city. You can pay in four different ways in Strætó in the capital area, with:
- Contactless payment
- The app Klappið in your phone
- Refillabe Klapp card
- Klapp ten

The route system will run again in a modified form
As the event schedule ends earlier than in recent years, the route system will be reintroduced in a significantly altered form to accommodate passengers who need to travel between neighborhoods.
General fare applies.
Buses will depart from Skúlagata starting at 22:20 and will follow the same routes as the „clearing routes,“ running in both directions. That means passengers can also take the bus into downtown.
Buses will run every 30 minutes.
The last departure from downtown is at 00:50.
The last departures toward downtown are as follows:
101 Hafnarfjörður – from Skarðshlíð at 00:20
102 Kópavogur – from Álfkonuhvarf at 00:20
103 Breiðholt – from Mjódd at 00:27
104 Úlfarsárdalur – from Gefjunarbrunnur at 00:20
105 Norðlingaholt – from Selvað at 00:20
106 Mosfellsbær – from Bjarkarflöt at 00:20
107 Seltjarnarnes – from Boðagrandi at 00:22

Normal service stops at 21:30
At 21:30 Strætó route system will be deactivated and all available buses will head towards Sólfarið at Sæbraut to transport people from the city center.
