On Monday, European Mobility Week begins, from September 16th to 22nd. 
The theme of the week is Shared Public Space.
Mobility week is a European awareness-raising campaign to improve transports in cities and towns. Since, 2002 cities and towns in Iceland have participated in this concerted effort with municipalities in Europe and Strætó has been involved since beginning.
The aim of the week is to encourage people to think about their own travel habits and encourage more people to use diverse, sustainable means of travel.

Variety of events will be on schedule on the mobility week:
September 16th: Opening and Bike Exhibition 
• The Bike Exhibition by Reiðhjólabændur and Reykjavík city will be opened in Tjarnarsalur at City Hall on September 16th at 16:00 and will remain open every day during Mobility Week.
September 18: Auðlindahringir (The circle of resources ) 
• Auðlindahringir is a series of events at Elliðaárstöð where resource experts from Orkuveitan will guide participants on a cycling tour. The meeting point is at Rafstöðvarvegur at 17:00. 
• Reiðhjólabændur and Bíó Paradís will show the documentary Chasing The Sun. 
• Aðförin í öndvegi will take place at Elliðaárstöð. Orka náttúrunnar and Veitur will host the event at noon at the Bistro by Elliðaárstöð. Soup, bread, and coffee will be served.
September 19: New walking and cycling path and a Pub Quiz 
• Opening of a new walking and cycling path in Suðurhlíðar, in collaboration with Reykjavík city, the Icelandic Road Administration, and Betri Samgöngur. 
• Transportation Pub Quiz at SnorraBar with Samtök um bíllausan lífsstíl (organization for a car-free lifestyle) at 11:00.
September 20: Traffic conference 
• Traffic Conference – Together as a team. Samgöngustofa will hold the Traffic Conference from 9:00 to 15:30 at Gamla Bíó, Ingólfsstræti 2a in Reykjavík. The theme: Diverse Groups of Road Users.
September 21: People of Reykjavík and Seltjarnarnes cycle together 
• Group Cycling. The City of Reykjavík and Seltjarnarnes are organizing a family cycling trip. Participants will meet at 11:00 at the new viewpoint by the JL House. The 6-kilometer Grótta Circle will be cycled, and participants will be invited to swim, have coffee, juice, and kleinur at the end of the trip.
September 22: Car-Free Day 
• There will be free access to Strætó buses in the capital area and in the countryside during the day and everybody is encouraged to rest their cars and use diverse and eco-friendly means of transport. 
• Garðsbraut Street in Húsavík will be closed to car traffic. A lecture on children’s safety in street design. Norðurþing.

Mobility week starts September 16th

Route 93

Route 93 
The extra trip that has been running on Thursdays in accordance with the Norræna ferry schedule will be adjusted to match the updated sailing schedule.
<ul>
<li>September 10 to November 5: The extra trip will be on Tuesdays. Departure from Seyðisfjörður to Egilsstaðir at 10:15.</li>
<li>November 13 and 20: The extra trip will shift to Wednesdays.</li>
<li>November 27 to March 12, 2025: No extra trips.</li>
<li>March 19, 2025: Extra trips will resume on Wednesdays.</li>
</ul>

Route 94

The winter schedule starts on September 30, 2024, with a modified timetable. Also the route will no longer run between Breiðdalsvík and Höfn but will only operate between Djúpivogur and Höfn.

There will be no changes to routes 91, 92, 95, and 96.

Winter Schedule in East Iceland

Grensásvegur has been reopened for traffic after being closed in one direction for several months due to construction.
Routes 2, 14, 15 and 17 will no longer take the detour via Ármúli but instead follow their usual routes.
The route planner is being updated.

No more detours at Grensás

On Saturday, September 7, additional buses will drive on route 55 on Ljósanótt ( Night of Lights). Note that to Reykjanesbær these are additional buses following the standard timetable but on the way from Reykjanesbær after the festival ends, extra trips will be available outside the standard timetable.
To Reykjanesbær
Two additional buses leave from Fjörður in Hafnarfjörður at the same time as scheduled buses, one of them leaves at 17:53 and the other at 19:53 and both ends at Hringbraut/Melteigur in Keflavík. These buses stop at the following stops: Fjörður – Sveitarfélagið Vogar – Hringbraut/Melteigur.
From Reykjanesbær 
When the festival ends, there will be three extra trips from Hringbraut/Melteigur in Keflavík outside the standard timetable, one at 22:45 and two at 23:15 and the buses ends at BSÍ. These buses stop at the following stops: Hringbraut/Melteigur &#8211; Sveitarfélagið Vogar &#8211; Fjörður &#8211; Ásgarður &#8211; Kringlumyrarbraut &#8211; Hlíðar &#8211; Klambratún &#8211; BSÍ.
NOTE:
<ul>
<li>The additional buses will have a sign: Additional buses (Aukavagnar)</li>
<li>The extra buses do not drive between Hringbraut/Melteigur and Keflavík Airport and vice versa. They will not stop at Vogaafleggjari of Grindavíkurafleggjari or drive through Keflavík.</li>
<li>However the extra buses will drive to Vogar and stop at the bus stop Sveitarfélagið Vogar, like route 87, see estimated timetable:</li>

The standard price for the countryside applies and the fare can be paid on board the bus by payment card or cash. Please note that you can not use Klappið on buses in the countryside.

Additional buses and trips on route 55 at Ljósanótt

We would like to draw attention to the fact that some hackers have launched campaigns on social media that are not from Strætó. They are “giving” bus cards to the customers. We never ask for full card details and we warn you to click on any links that do not come from us. All posts from us are from <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Straeto" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Strætó´s Facebook page.</a>

Beware of scam messages

Route 15 will make an extra trip on Saturday evening, August 31, after the festival&#8217;s concerts, to transport concert guests and others from Mosfellsbær. This trip is after the traditional driving of the route ends.
The additional bus departs from the stop Háholt at 23:55.
