Due to changes in the operation of public transport services in the Capital Region, Almenningssamgöngur höfuðborgarsvæðisins ohf. (ASHB) will assume responsibility for the operation of Klapp payment system from Strætó bs. on 1 July 2026.
As a result, personal data relating to Klapp users will be transferred from Strætó to ASHB in order to ensure the continued provision of the service, including users’ access to their accounts, tickets and subscriptions within Klapp. Following the transfer, ASHB will become the data controller of the personal data processing carried out within Klapp.
This change will not affect the use of Klapp or customer services.
The transfer of personal data is necessary to ensure continuity of service for users, including continued access to valid tickets, subscriptions and user accounts. The transfer is based on the legitimate interests of Strætó and ASHB, pursuant to Article 9(6) of Act No. 90/2018 on Data Protection and the Processing of Personal Data (corresponding to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Users have the right to object to processing that is based on legitimate interests. Any objection must be submitted to personuvernd@straeto.is no later than 28 June 2026. Any objections received will be handled in accordance with documented procedures.
If an objection is upheld, it may not be possible to transfer information relating to the user’s account, tickets or subscriptions to ASHB. In such circumstances, the user will be required to create a new account in order to use the service following the transfer of operations.
Users who have no objections to this transfer are not required to take any action. The change will not affect their rights or their continued use of Klapp.
