Free Strætó passes for primary school children in Reykjavík

The City of Reykjavík is offering free two-month Strætó passes to children born 2010 – 2014 who have legal residence in Reykjavík.

The project is part of the city’s work to improve access to public transport for children and teenagers, support more independent travel, and reduce the need for parents to drive children to school, sports, and leisure activities.

Parents and guardians can apply for the free two-month subscription through My Pages on the website of Reykjavík City from 18 May until 30 June 2026.

Children who already have an active Strætó pass can also get two extra months added to their Klapp access, but it must be applied for through the same application form on My Pages on the website of Reykjavík City.

This initiative is managed by the City of Reykjavík, who will publish information on its website. Parents and guardians of children in this age group will also receive a notification from island.is on 18 May with a link to the application form.
